Vacation Time

There is not much to post this week because I spent the majority of the past two weeks on a vacation to Michigan and Ohio. In Michigan, my wife and I went to a wedding of one of her oldest friends and then in Ohio, we got to stay and visit with some great friends from graduate school, printmaker Brett Schieszer and his wife. I am hoping to get some work done in the coming week or so before another short vacation to Boston right before the semester starts and things get hectic.

Look for another profile posting next Sunday to learn more about the Intersecting Methods 2016 participants.

Final editions

I received the final three editions this past week and am very happy to announce the works in the portfolio look great and have a nice variety to styles and interpretation of the theme. The final three editions are from Brett Schieszer with collaborator Kyle Gustafson, Elizabeth Klimek with Erin D’Vileskis, and Gretchen Schermerhorn with Patricia Lee. I am currently putting together an informational packet to go along with the portfolios and will post that for the public when completed so you can learn more about each printer, their collaborator and about the work itself. So I will hold off on long descriptions on these three for the time being.

As for the portfolio, the only thing left is to print the colophon which I have had some issues this this morning, So I am aiming to re-expose the final layer in 30 mins or so and then come in tomorrow of early next week to finish printing the colophon. Once complete I will send of a copy of the portfolio to San Francisco for the exhibition and then focus on the presentation for the conference.

Along side the portfolio I am continuing to discuss the next print with the first artist for the press. The artist is Stephen Evans, he is a painter and husband of a graduate student at the University of Maryland. Stephen and I have met a few times over the past few months and are starting to focus on the process and imagery portion of the collaboration. Once I have some samples and approval from him I will post images of the tests and ideas we are going forward with for the first edition. I hope to be able to schedule with Stephen a few periods in the shop so that he can work alongside for the print, but I look forward to getting into the edition in the next few months.
