Petzwinkler Tests

This week I was able to get into the studio and create some finalized tests for Tom Petzwinkler‘s initial process idea. Taking a process that Tom utilizes in his sculptural photographic works, we were seeking to find a reproductive format for it, possibly allowing for the creation of an editioned series of images. This initial process test was really needed to try to confirm or eliminate some variables for the creation of Tom’s edition. This can be an integral part of the collaborative process and something that can help push the artist further in their creative thinking about printmaking and its relationship to their own work.

I will not say whether this process/testing been confirmed or eliminated in this post, as I have not had the opportunity to meet and talk with the artist yet. But I will post some initial process images with a follow up post in the near future once I have had the opportunity to confer with Tom.

The image above is not only a good range for sampling Tom’s process, but it was also a great sample to print to see where the Epson 9900 is faltering for a color.

Tom has asked that I don’t reveal the process or the specific material used for the transfer. So I apologize to anyone interested, but he will sometimes teach/demo the process for others to see. If interested contact him, otherwise I will have an updated post about this series of tests after I meet with Tom.
